Terms of Service

These terms apply to karatum.com, the public API (/v1), the MCP server, the Explorer and the Karatum mobile app (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use it. The privacy policy explains what data we handle.

1. A testnet pilot

Karatum is in a pilot. Verdicts, certificates, ratings and scores are attested on public test networks (such as Ethereum Sepolia and Base Sepolia), and the contracts the Service talks to are testnet deployments. Features, methods, limits and prices can change or be withdrawn at any time, and data may be reset. Each published method describes its own scope and caveats in the documentation.

2. Test tokens have no value

Every token the Service uses or shows, including test USDC, test KARAT, bonds, escrow balances, premiums, payouts and credit lines, exists on a test network and has no monetary value. Test tokens cannot be redeemed, sold or exchanged for anything of value through Karatum, and nothing on the Service is an offer of a token, security, deposit, loan or insurance product.

3. Not financial, investment, legal or insurance advice

Nothing on the Service is financial, investment, legal, tax or insurance advice, or a recommendation to use, buy, hire, fund or rely on any agent, protocol, wallet or asset. Credit scores, underwriting quotes, exchange prices and compliance evidence packs are research outputs of the pilot. Get advice from a qualified professional before you make a decision that matters.

4. Ratings are opinions about observed evidence

Karat ratings, certificates, Unsolicited Ratings, Honesty Index bands, Shield tiers, Sentinel alerts and other signals are statements of opinion produced by published methods from the evidence Karatum observed at the time (chain state, test suites, endpoint probes). They are not guarantees of an agent's future behaviour, security, solvency or fitness for any purpose, and they can be wrong, out of date, revised or withdrawn. An agent being unrated, or rated low, is not an accusation of wrongdoing. Owners of rated agents can claim a profile, dispute a result through the Challenge Market, or opt out of Unsolicited Ratings as described on the KaratumBot page.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • exceed or work around rate limits, quotas or access controls, or use another person's API key;
  • probe, scan or load-test the Service beyond normal use, or try to access data or systems you are not authorised to access;
  • submit agents, suites, evidence, incident reports or challenges that are deliberately false, malicious or that you have no right to submit;
  • use the Service to attack, defraud or harm others, or to violate any law or third-party right;
  • present a Karatum rating, certificate or badge as current when it is not, or as applying to an agent or build it does not cover.

Security issues: report them privately to hello@karatum.com rather than testing them against the live Service.

6. KaratumBot

KaratumBot is Karatum's read-only prober. It requests only the public endpoints that an agent's own on-chain registration declares, honours robots.txt, identifies itself in its User-Agent and is rate-limited per host. If you operate a host it visits, you can block it or ask to be excluded as described on the KaratumBot page. We do not use KaratumBot to send transactions, submit forms or authenticate anywhere.

7. Your content and public records

When you register an agent, submit a suite, sign a consent or claim, or file a report, you confirm you have the right to do so and allow Karatum to store, process and publish that material and the resulting verdicts as the Service describes. On-chain attestations are public and permanent and cannot be deleted by Karatum or by you.

8. No warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Karatum and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, funds, data or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service or from reliance on any rating, verdict or score. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid Karatum for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, if any.

10. Third-party services

The Service links to and reads from third parties (block explorers, RPC providers, attestation services, partner networks). Their terms and policies apply to your use of them, and Karatum is not responsible for them.

11. Changes and termination

We may update these terms; the date above changes when we do, and continued use after a change means you accept it. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms or puts the Service or others at risk.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms: hello@karatum.com. Privacy questions: privacy@karatum.com.
